Dean Eades Wildlife Photography Tours & Photography Hides

Photography Hide contact for latest prices

Dyke hide - Buzzard, Red Kite, Sparrowhawk, Jay & Great spotted

Woodpecker - Buzzard, Kites and a good chance of a sparrowhawk visiting too hunt the small garden birds. The hide is being run as single occupancy, if you book alone you will shoot alone. If you wish to bring a photographer friend along then there is space for 2 photographers and we are offering a discount for this. Other species you are likely to encounter during a day include Jay and great spotted woodpecker attracted to seed. The hide is heated with a toilet and is being run dawn to dusk.

Hides

Brown Hare

90º & 180º Brown Hare hides

The hare hides are approaching their most active time now - from January to March is the best time of year for the chance of capturing images of them doing their courtship rituals and boxing. Weather on the day does play a massive part in how active the hares will be so this year we are offering a last minute date change if the weather forecast is looking particularly bad on the booked date. Cold, still and sunny days are the best for activity with wet, windy and cold days being the worst. Warmer wet days without the wind doesn’t affect activity. We want you to have a successful day in the hide so feel it’s best to offer this option to postpone should it be needed. The hares aren’t baited in anyway so the session’s activity relies on their natural movements on the day.

Kingfishers

Pond Hide - Kingfisher Courtship - March 2025

2024 was by far our best season to date with the kingfishers. We had all the intimate behaviours photographed on different broods and consecutive days all happening right in front of the hide on the perches. These were fish passing, mating and feeding fledged young along with huge numbers during the feeding periods. We are hoping for similar action in 2025 so have opened up the dates for next year on the booking site. It’s incredibly difficult for us to say exactly when these special moments will happen but from experience dates in March offer the best chance of witnessing them. Early booking advised as it’s a popular time.
